Massive Tau Blow For Al Ahly As Pitso Returns

Pitso Mosimane is back at Al Ahly following a short break although the coach will be without Percy Tau and four of the club’s star players, as he looks to add Egypt’s latest trophy to his cabinet.

Al Ahly have been preparing for the WE League Cup, Egypt’s latest domestic trophy, which was founded by the newly-formed Professional Clubs Association.

However, Mosimane, who is already missing a large number of his international players doing duty for their country at the 2022 AFCON in Cameroon, will have to make do without five of his regular players including Percy Tau.

In a statement on the club's website, Al Ahly confirmed that Yasser Ibrahim, Percy Tau, Luís Miquissone, Ahmed Nabil, and Ahmed Abdelkader tested positive for COVID-19 and have began their isolation period.

Mosimane will likely be without the quintet for the opening matches of the WE Cup, although they should be available for the last of the five group stage matches.

Mosimane is once again in line to walk away with EGP1.5 million (±R1.5m) if he manages to bag the newly-formed competition.

Al Ahly have been drawn in group B alongside Ismaily, Smouha, Arab Contractors, National Bank of Egypt and Al Gouna.
