The bodies of a missing Nelspruit mother and son were discovered in their home in Mataffin on Sunday.
Mpumalanga police said they were last seen at their Mataffin home on Thursday.
According to the police, the bodies were found at around 08.35 after they responded to a call about a bad odour coming from the house.
"When the members arrived at the said house, they found the door of the house closed but unlocked and discovered the body of a 44 year-old-woman on the ground with a bed on top of her. The victim's head was covered in a plastic bag with a visible wound on her shoulder."
The police said neighbours told them the woman was staying with her son and both were last seen on Thursday.
"The body of a 28-year-old man believed to be the woman's son was also found in the house's garage with stab wounds."
