Our 2022 resolution centres on a properly renovated Spaar-O-rama road, says the residents

For over a couple of months the Lydenburg residents have been feeling a bit inconvenienced in relation to their priority road that stretches from The Heads passing through Spaar -O- Rama to Standard Bank in town. According to a concerned Motorist, it started out as a good cause, but as the time unfolded and the issue never got resolved it certainly become nothing but an inconvenience as people have begun to find alternatives as roads to get kids to kindergartens and schools, and also try to make it to work on time. Imagine having to be forced to change your daily routine to accommodate the changes that have prolonged for what could be called a lifetime.

To add on a different motorist, stated that in order to make it on time they have to wake up earlier than usual to beat the congestion during peak hours. Upon saying this the woman seemed frustrated, she went on to say her responsibilities stretches from her homely duties, inclusive of her husband and children’s welfare to her job and also adjusting to a new routine due to the unresolved road issues. Her scepticism in the matter resulted in her concluding that the gesture of attempting to renovate the road was a façade to acquire votes since the process began during election times, she blatantly stated that,’’ how convenient of the Municipality to attempt of such a measure during election days’’ as she chuckled sarcastically posing a rhetoric question that got people talking.

Due to this unsolved inconvenient we had to send some of our team members to investigate how this has affected the business Owners whose businesses are situated along the road that has been neglected. According to the findings the businesses have been operating at a loss as the issue has currently affected much of their clientele who would often stop by early in the morning or perhaps after a long day of work to buy essentials.

It should further be noted that these business owners are in a very tight space as they need to pay up rentals and other operating costs to secure day to day running of the business, furthermore the Owner of the Restaurant at Spaar-O-rama complained about losing perishable stock due to the unexpected changes which won’t obviously be compensated for by the Municipality, he says.

In conclusion the residents asked for only one thing from the Municipality, which is a renovated road in the beginning of the year 2022 since their municipality has failed them this year of 2021, they are desperately hoping to start off the year at a good course marked by a beautiful road and the repudiation of trucks from using the road.
